Treat people with respect. Discuss the technical issue rather than the person, accept constructive feedback, give credit for others’ work, and help newcomers participate. Respect other people’s privacy and boundaries.
Harassment, discriminatory language, personal attacks, threats, sexualized conduct, and publishing private information without permission are not acceptable. These expectations apply to project issues, pull requests, discussions and other spaces where people participate on behalf of the project.
Maintainers may edit or remove harmful content, pause a discussion, or restrict participation. Repeated or serious violations can lead to removal from project spaces. Decisions should be proportionate and considerate of affected people.
For a concern, contact a repository maintainer privately through a contact method they make available on their GitHub profile. GitHub’s reporting tools can also be used for abusive content or accounts. Do not repeat private details in a public report. Maintainers should handle reports discreetly and avoid disclosing more information than is necessary to respond.
